How to verify your Instagram account

To verify your Instagram account you have to take into account a series of factors that will make it easier to obtain:

  • If you have a verified Facebook business page that is linked to your Instagram account.
  • If there are multiple accounts trying to impersonate your profile or your image.
  • If you have more than 100,000 followers.

In addition, your account must meet these requirements:

  • Authentic. Obviously, you have to be who you say you are, i.e. a real person, a registered company or a brand. Instagram does not verify general interest accounts (profiles that post memes, upload posts about their random interests, or fan profiles, for example).
  • Public account.
  • Complete. You must have a full biography, a profile picture and at least one post.
  • Notable. Instagram gives preference to accounts that represent a recognised brand or figure.

Once you have completed these requirements, you can request verification on Instagram by going to Settings > Account > Request verification. Once there, you will need to fill in the request with your personal details and wait to be notified of the verification, in case you are not verified, you can wait 30 days to try again!
